Ed and Jeny Rangel along with their three daughters, Rochelle Lynne (5), Valerie Nicole (3) and Arianna Jade (9 months) began working with the Hueytown church in September of 2018. The Rangels moved from Trafalgar, Indiana where Ed had worked with the Spearsville Road Church of Christ for over 20 years.
Ed has preached in several Latin American countries and lived as a missionary in Puerto Rico for over 2 years. While living in Puerto Rico Ed met his wife Jeny. Jeny is from Manizales, Colombia, and they have been married for eight years.
Ed was born in Fort Stockton, Texas and studied at the University of Texas at El Paso, Texas, majoring in secondary education. While enrolled at UTEP Ed worshipped with the Spanish-speaking brethren in El Paso and in Juárez across the border in order to learn Spanish. Additionally, Ed lived in Juárez with a couple of host families.
For a few years, Ed worked with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, Texas Youth Commission, Midland County Jail (via ABL Management) in the area of food service management. During that time Ed met and was mentored by Jay Bowman. Brother Bowman encouraged Ed to pursue a career in preaching. At that time Ed decided to move to Danville, Kentucky and study under the tutelage of the elders of the Lexington Avenue church of Christ and the instruction of Steve Wolfgang and Scott Vifquain.
In 1999 Ed began working full-time with the Spearsville Road Church of Christ in Trafalgar, Indiana. While preaching he pursued another degree in Special Education from Western Governor’s University (k-12 special education and k-6 general education).
