What should I expect?

The assemblies for worship at the Hueytown church follow the simple, spiritual pattern of the New Testament. The worship service lasts about 60 minutes and the Bible studies last about 45 minutes. The worship service will begin with a prayer to our Lord. Then we will sing songs of praise and encouragement from the heart (Ephesians 5:19). The songs will be projected on a screen or can be followed in a songbook so that everyone can engage in worship together. After singing we will spend time remembering the death and resurrection of Jesus by taking the Lord’s Supper (1 Corinthians 11:23-26). Then an opportunity is given for Christians to give from the heart to the Lord (1 Corinthians 16:1-2;  2 Corinthians 9:7). You are not asked nor obligated to give. You may give if you desire. Please place your guest card in the basket when it comes to you. The money is used to further the teaching of the Bible in this community. After the Lord’s Supper and the opportunity to give, there will be a reading from God’s word which leads into a message spoken from God’s word (Matthew 28:18-20; 2 Timothy 4:2). Every message has encouraging and practical help for your life. You are welcome to participate in as much of the worship service as you are comfortable doing. The worship service will then end with one final song and one final prayer.

What should I wear?

Do not worry about what to wear. Come in what you feel comfortable wearing. There will be a mixture of people wearing t-shirts to button up shirts, from casual clothing to dresses. Whether you choose to be casual or like to dress up a little, you can expect to be welcomed as our guest and will fit in with what others are wearing.

What if I have kids?

During the Bible study times on Sunday at 10:30 am and Wednesday at 7 pm we have Bible classes for all ages where your child will learn the important stories of the Bible in an engaging way.

During the worship times on Sunday at 9:30 am and 11:15 am we have the children with the adults so that they can enjoy worship and learn about God. If you have an infant, we have a nursery available if you need it where you can still hear the message. For other ages, your child can either sit with you or with other children their age during the worship. Just let a greeter know when you enter if you would like to have your child sit with some of the other children.
