The Thief on the Cross

In spirit and in truth.  We are familiar with this phrase from the encounter Jesus had with the women at the well in John 4.  It is a beautiful study that Jesus had with the woman who later went and shared what she had learned with her family.

Most of us understand that worshiping God in spirit and in truth means that we are to worship God from the heart and as God would have it.

Today we turn to the thief, not to talk about salvation, necessarily, but about those things that should be in our hearts when it comes to worship.

The account helps us understand what should be in our hearts when we worship God and how we should worship Him.

Luke 23 is the expanded version of the account of Jesus’ discussion with the thieves.  But Matthew 27 gives us some insight and seems to have taken place a bit earlier in the account.
